Book Dr Kate Leeming OAM for Your Next International Event
Dr Kate Leeming OAM has spent three decades leading world-first cycling expeditions across every continent on Earth, amassing more than 106,000 kilometres in the saddle across her major journeys, a distance equivalent to circling the globe more than two and a half times. In 2023 she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for services to adventure sport, adding to earlier recognition including the Australian Geographic Society’s Spirit of Adventure award.
Her body of work extends well beyond the physical feats themselves. Kate has authored two books and produced award-winning film and television projects that have screened internationally, consistently pairing her expeditions with an educational or humanitarian purpose. In 2010 she became the first person to cycle an unbroken line from Africa’s most westerly point to its most easterly point, a 22,040-kilometre journey through twenty countries designed to draw attention to the causes and effects of extreme poverty. Earlier in her career she rode 13,400 kilometres across the newly formed Russia, becoming the first woman to complete that crossing unsupported, and later added a 25,000-kilometre expedition across Australia supported by UNESCO.
More recently, 2023 saw Kate undertake two further fatbike expeditions, one across Antarctica’s Queen Maud Land and another spanning 8,617 kilometres from Australia’s Cape Byron to Steep Point, followed in August 2025 by a 9,000-kilometre ride through Central Asia from Kyrgyzstan to Afghanistan. On stage, Kate translates the lessons of these expeditions into practical takeaways on resilience, adaptability and women’s leadership in exploration, drawing on her standing as a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society, a member of The Explorers Club and Honorary Advisor to the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, credentials that reinforce the depth of experience behind every session she delivers to audiences around the world.
