Charlotte Mikkelborg is an award-winning British director who has been creatively directing critically acclaimed film and immersive experiences since 2015.

There are few people in the world who can likely predict the future of storytelling as well as Charlotte, who has spent the last decade continuously pioneering how such a future could look with her cutting-edge work at the intersection of the TV, film and immersive experiences.

From directing the very first immersive concert for the world’s biggest band, ‘Coldplay: Music of the Spheres – An Immersive Experience’, to directing the first Apple TV originals series for the Apple Vision Pro spatial computing device, ‘Adventure’, to winning the SXSW Innovation Award for designing the original multisensory narrative AR game ‘Time Detectives’, Charlotte is a relentless innovator.

She first gained recognition as a BBC foreign correspondent before more recently becoming known for her work designing, producing and directing critically acclaiming film and immersive experiences.

Charlotte has worked on pushing the boundaries of storytelling for leading entertainment, music, commercial and social impact clients including Apple, Disney, Coldplay, Meta, British Airways and the United Nations.

Charlotte chairs the Oxford University Media Committee, is a guest tutor on University College London’s Immersive MA, helped run the Google/Youtube Creators Lab and is a film and immersive mentor at the SXSW Film Festival.

Drawing from immersive entertainment and experiential design, the session examines how presence, interactivity, and spatial storytelling transform engagement, and what these lessons mean for organisations increasingly using storytelling to connect with audiences.

The presentation also considers the role of AI as a creative support tool, focusing on how technology can enhance rather than replace human-led storytelling and emotional truth.
